Tennant’s  National League Division 1
 Kelso 14 Kirkcaldy 41 half time 7-17
Kelso headed north to take on a reviving Kirkcaldy who had been promoted from National 2 last season. It was a settled side with only 1 change in the starting personnel, from last week’s home defeat by Musselburgh.
Kelso had a chance to set the score board rolling with a long range penalty from Craig Dods but the wind diverted the kick.
Kirkcaldy soon took the lead after 10 minutes when centre Craig Littlejohn burst through a few tackles and full back Finlay Smith converted. That was just the start for the Fifers as second row, Michael Harper scored a second try with Smith again converting. Smith stretched the lead with a penalty but ill discipline set in and Kirkcaldy had 2 players yellow carded in quick succession. That allowed Kelso to get a score by Craig Dods from a scrum. His well struck conversion reduced the leeway to 17-7 at half time.
The second half did not go well for Kelso, with Smith slotting an early penalty and this was followed by another 3 tries for the hosts by winger, Finlay Bruce with 2, and the hooker, Greg Wallace. His successful kicking performance continued as all 3 tries were converted.
A yellow card to Michael Downer did not help Kelso’s cause but, shortly after he returned, Kelso had the final say in the game with a good try by Liam Herdman who followed up a good break by Murray Hastie. Dods converted to take the final score to 41-14 for the jubilant home team.
